With all the colds and flu's going around this is a tried and tested traditional remedy for getting you through this winter.
Mix in your favourite mug:
1 - 2 Cloves of Garlic
2 cm or more sized piece of fresh ginger, grated.
1 Pinch of Cayenne Pepper
1 Nip of Brandy or similar spirit
Honey to taste
Pour on boiling hot water and let sit for 5 minutes. Drink it when it is cool enough to drink.
Then go to bed with your warm winter PJ's on and you will find you get up a good sweat. The rise in body temperature will help to kill the virus. The garlic has strong anti-microbial properties and is great for clearing mucos. The Cayenne Pepper and Brandy work as a diaphoretic to get your temperature up and induce sweating. The Ginger also helps as a diaphoretic and to reduce the aches and pains of the flu and to support warming the body when sick. The honey is eases a sore throat and has antibacterial properties.
